A few days ago, Shep Smith found himself in hot water with Fox News fans after he publicly attacked Donald Trump on his show. Now, it looks like Smith may be leaving Fox, as he has just announced that he is putting his New York City apartment on the market.
Daily Mail reported that Smith has put his Greenwich Village condo at 65 West 13th Street on the market for the second time, selling it for $4.9 million. He had bought the unit for $1.88 million in 2004, and had previously tried to sell it in 2011.
The unit includes a 40-foot gallery, 13-foot ceilings with south-facing windows, a high-end kitchen with custom cabinets and backsplash, as well as a granite center island.
Smith has been with Fox News since it launched 20 years ago, and his contract at the network is worth $10 million. However, since Megyn Kelly left Fox last week, Smith is one of the only anti-Trump hosts left at the network. Fox executives have made it clear that they want to be a pro-Trump network, so Smith’s future there is uncertain.
On Wednesday, Trump confronted CNN reporter Jim Acosta, telling him that his organization is “fake news” for reporting on the dirty dossier Russia supposedly had on him. Smith reacted to this by defending Acosta, scolding the president-elect for refusing to call on him during the press conference.
“President-Elect Trump today told CNN’s Jim Acosta that his organization amounts to fake news. CNN’s exclusive reporting on the Russian matter was separate and distinctly different from the document dump executed by an online news property,” the Fox anchor insisted, according to Breitbart. “Though we at Fox News cannot confirm CNN’s report, it is our observation that its correspondents follow journalistic standards and that neither they nor any other journalists should be subjected to belittling or delegitimizing by the President-elect of the United States.”
