Shots rang out at the US capital on Wednesday morning, sending shockwaves through Washington D.C.
The Washington Post reported that the incident occurred at around 9:30am outside the Rayburn Building on U.S. Capitol grounds. Witnesses heard gunshots after someone in a car tried to ram a U.S. Capitol Police cruiser. Officers pursued the suspect on foot, catching the assailant 15 minutes later.
It is not known who fired the gunshots, but police have confirmed that nobody was hit with the bullets.
This comes days after a terrorist attack occurred right outside the House of Parliament in London, leaving three people dead and 29 injured. It is not known at this time whether or not this Washington D.C. incident was linked to terror.
