VotifyNow announces launch at South Carolina’s Rock The Red event
VotifyNow founder Johnny Vieira announced plans to launch the app at the Rock The Red event in Greenville, South Carolina, on May 6 and 7, 2022. A company release issued on May 4 set out the launch plans and described the software’s intended uses.
The app was presented as a way for users to submit descriptions, photographs and video of suspected election-related irregularities. The company said submissions could be reviewed for patterns and shared with other users in the area. It also described features for information about local meetings and candidates.
These were the company’s descriptions of the product. A user-submitted report is an allegation requiring verification, rather than proof that wrongdoing occurred. The announcement did not establish that every submission was accurate.
VotifyNow identified itself as unaffiliated with a government agency. The launch was a private technology announcement at a political event, not the introduction of an official election-administration system.
